​“Will I be wealthy mah?”, this is often a question I get asked so often during bazi reading.
Often, when I plot their bazi chart, the next question is, “Do I have wealth element in my bazi? How many are there?”.
 
You can probably predict where this goes. And yes, many would be disappointed when I say none or only 1. While those has a handful, their face brightens up like a camera ready to flash for the next pic.

Over this article, I will share my thoughts on why wealth element is not everything to gain wealth. And through your bazi, when is your wealth luck coming even if you don't have it in your bazi.

Our Bazi Chart – and how to see any wealth element?

Your bazi is a map to your life through the interaction of 5 elements and the categories in life the element represents. The categories is in a gist of how I can put to it in a layman term per below:

1. people around you
2. your thinking/creativity
3. wealth
4. career
5. resources in life or support

These 5 elements is then further broken into what we call “10 gods” (十神). It further help us define into your characteristics and things in life during reading of bazi.

​Client with average wealth luck. She has a Earth (戊) day master. Water is what Earth controls and hence is the Wealth element. Notice the numerous wealth elements in her chart but she is unlike the first chart in wealth luck. In fact, she is more tight-fist over money matters.

​Golden Question - Does the number of wealth element matter?

There is no straight forward question to this answer.
But if anything and generally, no. In a normal bazi chart, you need just 1 wealth element to be wealthy. (not inclusive of special category chart).
​
On the contrary, if you have too many wealth elements, there is a chance you may have poorer health or be henpecked! A case of 财多身子弱.
​
Steve Job’s bazi chart was analyzed by many practitioners and there was possibly no wealth element. Yet, he is one of the richest men at one point in time. (We will come to that in a bit..)
 
As such, you can see that there is no simple easy way of – “Oh! I have many wealth element.. it means I am (going to be) super wealthy!”.

Surprise! There are other areas that can help bring wealth!

Here is a surprise to share with you. These other categories of stars and areas in your bazi can have positive impact to bring you wealth too.

Career
Depending on your bazi chart and structure, your career star can bring you not only wealth but fame or authority in life.

One with such stars usually can take the responsibilities and ease up the career ladder or is well liked by bosses. When their bazi structure allows, one typically rose to be leaders in their own fields or are in senior management.

But when one has such talents, gaining wealth also means certain sacrifice in life (e.g. family time or leisure time).

Thinking/Creativity​
You maybe thinking how can thinking stars in your bazi bring you wealth.
The logic is simple. In bazi relationship, your thinking star grows your wealth stars.

Using the production cycle in 5 elements, for a Metal day master, your wealth is Wood. Water is then Metal's thinking.

The formula is hence: 
Metal (self) produces Water (thinking) and produces Wood (wealth).

​This route typically belongs to roles in marketing, design or innovating fields.

Bazi Structure
This is probably less mentioned in bazi context. But, this is also an area that can define you as ability to reach the top or being the Average Joe. (When I mention Average Joe, one can also earn comfortably so long as one tap on their given talents indicated in their bazi.)

​I shall not go into this area as it would be a lengthy write up, but just to give you a flavor of other areas in bazi other than purely wealth star.

Luck Pillar
This is the luck that one goes through at different stage of our life.
In our bazi, each luck pillar define 10 years of our life's luck. And this define from young to when we aged.

Using sailing as an analogy, think of it as you sailing out in the ocean. If its a choppy sea and bad current? You can think of the movie "Poseidon". Or you are enjoying good luck sailing through smooth favourable current. 

The golden tip is - when one is going through good wealth luck in luck pillar, one can enjoy good wealth too. This is even if you do not have Wealth element in your bazi.

Conclusion

So I hope you have learn that in bazi, wealth star is not all you need to be wealthy. Certainly not the generic way of thinking - the more wealth star the merrier. Through other categories and areas in bazi, one can become wealthy or at least comfortable in life too. 

In life, we “win” some – the gaining of wealth, and we “lose” some – the loss of family time. So its not all perfect at times too.

​Example, using ornaments or religion applications, it would be obvious to the naked eye. However, using elemental items, this is easily blended into your house furnishing and cannot be detected otherwise yet effective.

Pricing wise, you may be surprise that some of feng shui cures or for luck activation is actually economical and not at all exorbitant. Also, fengshui is not a religious practise but a Chinese metaphysics science subject.​

How do you know if the person would appear to be snobbish? Or does one tend to be less tactful or....simply a rebel at heart?

More importantly, if you may have similar traits, what actions should you watch to improve your relationship with people? What job functions/organizations are you more suited to?

Today we examine this star in bazi and also sharing a simple case study.
 

Matteo Guendouzi

Guendouzi is a footballer who signed and became an Arsenal player in 2018. At one point, he was the golden boy. Playing well, catching attention from various clubs and being called up to the French national team.

Ok, i know not everyone is into football. Let's just examine on his issues faced.

Since 2020 to now, he has been with Arsenal and then on loaned to 2 clubs – Hertha Berlin and now in Marseille. Through his tenure in 3 clubs, there were various critics all link to his behavior.
​
If you summarize, the keywords that came up: rebel, bragging, overbearing and attitude. Just like all of us at work. It is inevitable at times you get into trouble or unable to click with your co-workers. If its once, its just your luck. But what if this trend follows you around?

How can we find this out from his bazi?

Rebel – Output stars

(Technical explanation) He is a weak 丙 fire person. (Earth is his output as fire produces earth.) As there are many Earth elements, it is a negative element and throws his chart into imbalance. Output denotes one's thinking and actions.

(But if you just want to know why)  Output action equates to what you say, think and actions. Hence, if output stars sit in your bazi chart, and if its not a favourable star to you, tendency is you can be tactless.  In Guendouzi's case, people around him often bemoan on his behavior and his various comments at training.

"Unlikeable " becomes a tag on you among friends/peers.

Output also equates to like to show. Hence, the bragging issue. He was reported to have bragged about his wages to his opponent once during a match.

If you notice, within the Output star, there is this name called “Hurting Officer” Usually people with such star would exudes certain "nose in the air" vibes.

​How about him rebel against his boss?
Bosses, this is where you want to sit up and pay attention. If you prefer a yes man, it is best not to hire someone with strong unfavourable output stars.

In bazi theory, Output stars attack Officer stars. Officer star usually represents one's bosses. Should the Output star be negative, usually, one would oppose frequently, landing one in trouble.

During Guendouzi's tenure in each of 3 clubs, it was reported in news he has had issues with each of his bosses. This was often link to his attitude displayed and being labelled as "a pain to manage on daily basis".
 
What happens if you have similar traits?

In summary, one would offend easily especially if you have too many output stars. Often more may not be good. 

Considerations such as type of workplace, bosses should also be considered carefully to best suit you when choosing your job. Of course, one with such stars are also better suited to be in certain functions/industry. In fact, each star has its good and bad side. 

Do you notice people in job functions like marketing, arts have predominantly different characters vs those in finance or administration? Guess which job function output star people belong to.

In truth, output star equates to creativity too. Hence, people with such stars are suited to be in marketing, creative or arts. The plus side of it.

For bosses, depending on your requirements and hiring needs, hiring someone with the right stars would bring about higher odds of better fit. Someone with the output star would likely be vocal and is part of their DNA.

​Lastly for anyone of you at work, combining all these would help one to achieve better success at work. Not to mention, a happier you.

​With HDB releasing various new BTO projects bi-monthly, questions related to fengshui aspect of these new project are inevitable. While the houses are not built, we can use the available information to make fengshui analysis.

When it comes to fengshui aspect of property, are you aware of any areas to look at when selecting? (e.g. internal, external?) How would you select?

For a start, some of info needed include: age of property, orientation facing, property layout, surrounding aspect of property.

This can get quite mind boggling for someone new to fengshui. Today, we delve in to look at some of the analysis insights.

​New BTO - Kovan Wellspring’s surrouding
​
Situated right next to the Kovan MRT and Kovan Hawker Center, this can be considered a prime area in Hougang. A good piece of news is this BTO project is mainly North South facing. Generally, a favourable direction in a property's orientation. 

​Surrounding this BTO project, it faces the Tampines Road and partially to Upper Serangoon Road.

A quick view of the stacks surrounding...

Block 215A and 216A would be facing Stars of Kovan on the opposite side of Tampines Road and or the low-lying areas of shop houses along Upper Serangoon Road. Generally, there do not seem to present any significant external structure that may cause feng shui issues. However, this is also dependent on any new construction activity.

These 2 blocks would encounter 声煞 with the noise generated from the main road. This is especailly for stack 142 and 144 that faces the busy cross junction at Upper Serangoon Road. Home owners may enjoy less peaceful rest resulting from this. 

Remember, as part of good fengshui, we look at all factors to ensure home owners enjoy good rest and time at home.

​Units that may not face North South

Take note, out of all stacks, 4 stacks may not be North South facing. These are stacks 142, 144, 162 and 164. (turquoise arrow, per below image)

Basing on the site plan, these 4 stacks are near the border of the North South facing sector. (Basing on the 24 mountains) As such, some of units may in actual be facing North East (for stack 142 and 144). Likewise, some may face North West (for stack 162 and 164).

In a fengshui analysis, each degree matters. Likewise, facing a different direction (North or North West) would mean a different fengshui for the property.

This would have an effect on the property’s luck. Fortunately, some of the North West facing units may still enjoy good fengshui.

​In the event if you do have a fengshui analysis for your property, your fengshui practitioner would be able to advice you.

​Inner units may be a better pick but some potential external environment risk

It seems that it maybe more peaceful with stacks in the inner facing. Of course, that is an assumption based on site plan. Units would least have a roof top garden which acts as a 明堂 (albeit not widely spaced) rather than busy roads.

There would be a community club built right next to 214A and 215A. (red arrow, per above image)

With that, those picking stack 136 and 140 should note of potential risk depending on the building structure of the community club. It is best to avoid odd or sharp structure that points to the stacks.

There also may be external fengshui risk caused by "wall knife". (dotted red arrow, per above image)

The good news.. or rather the good stacks....

Generally, there are possibly four stacks that enjoys the best fengshui among the 40 stacks. It fulfils most of the fengshui analysis principles and also the 玄空六发 system.

​For clients/potential buyer who have done the "Property Selection Fengshui Audit" for this BTO, you would have been notified of this in your report if this was the stack chosen.

Conclusion

All in all, I have highlighted some of the potential pros and cons of this BTO project. Of course, the areas discussed is non-exhaustive. However, I hope this allows you to have some insights in your selection.

This article is meant for new property buyers and those who maybe less familiar with fengshui. During my course of work, I notice clients seem to have some idea of how feng shui works. But to pinpoint when to do what, it becomes unclear.
​
So hopefully with this article, it gives clarity to you. The image below shows steps where feng shui can be part of property selection process (in red).

​Stage 1 - Property Selection Using Fengshui

This is really about applying fengshui right from the start. Typically, there are 2 scenarios.

For new and not constructed property (e.g. such as new condo or bto selection), your fengshui master would help audit and select base on floor and site plan. The site location, the surroundings should form part of the consideration factors.

For properties constructed, your fengshui master would visit onsite to your shortlisted properties to audit.

Do you know that..
The key scope is now for your fengshui master to calculate based on formulas and doing analysis work.  Most of the legwork. (Certainly not just "look see" like in movies.. haha) These would involve comprehensive areas of individual property such as:
- time factor
- internal layout of property
- the location
- surrounding and orientation of property.

​Pros:
Property selection involves a comprehensive set of information. Your fengshui master can help point out the positives and flaws based on his analysis. You would hence be selecting a property based on good fengshui advised. 

So knowing what you are buying can prevent headache situations arising from bad feng shui. 
Remember, cures for bad feng shui can only help to minimize but not make it disappear.

​Cons:
Resources. To look for a good property, takes a bit of time and property owners are expected to put in some cost. In the market, a fengshui home selection can cost anything between $100 - $300 on average per house.

Depending on your luck and affinity, some may find a good feng shui house within 1 - 3 tries, some may take more. A good fengshui house though can really help one.

​As the saying goes:
一命，二运， 三风水

​You decide though if its worth it to get a good fengshui property.. or leaving it to chance.

Stage 4 - On Site Fengshui Audit

Upon securing your new property, most property owners start to engage for fengshui services. Most property owners fall into this stage.

The fengshui audit takes place onsite where readings are taken (similar to house selection stage for analysis and calculation). The findings can then be advised to home owners.

In additional, fengshui solutions and placement are customized to individuals' bazi at this stage. These changes can be incorporated into renovation and design.**

End result? A comfortable living environment for the family by enhancing luck of the property and rectify the negative aspects of it.

Do you know that..
There are different schools of fengshui and likewise items used for luck enhancement or remedies. Hence some 'fengshui items' uses crystals or Chinese figurines or statues. Some may focus more on movements with relation to five elements that can invigorate the environment or qi.
 
**Worried about fengshui solutions that does not blend in well due to its Chinese theme? (e.g. Chinese statues or ornaments etc)
Fengshui Discovery's fengshui solutions are economical, based on 5 elements and guaranteed to blend into one's house.

​Cons:
Russian roulette. A property audit without proper fengshui assessment is a little like leaving it to luck. Likewise, there are many common fengshui knowledge and hence using it to DIY fengshui solutions. The trick is to distinguish what are real or just a little over the top.

Which of the below are important? Or is it all 3 options important? 
e.g. Is fish tank's location in the house important? Number of fish important? Color of fish important?

​Stage 5 to 6 - Picking an auspicious date

A smaller portion of property owners would fall into this category. This is partly due to the thinking that having a good move in date carries minimal fuss. At the same time, home owners can have a peace of mind.
​
Your fengshui master may use different date selection techniques and systems to derive the dates. Some may DIY and use a generic tong shu to select. 

Do you know that.. 
if you DIY to select a generic good date from tong shu, it is not customized to individual? There maybe clashes to home owners, so do use with care.

​Pros:
Especially for move in, it is a long term endeavor as you are moving in to stay for possibly years. It is hence useful and important to use an auspicious date to boost one’s luck in this area. Not to mention a smooth move in and reno works.

​Cons:
The worry about ignoring choosing an auspicious date for move in or reno is not only about smooth activity. It is also in fact, about avoiding triggering negative luck.

This is especially true for renovation. Any earth related activities can have strong negative influence or impact which may go on for awhile to the property affected. Hence it is for a good reason to not only start on a good foot but to avoid such negative dates.

Again, DIY using tong shu is too generic. Most may neglect personalizing to individual bazi.

​Meanwhile, as shared in my previous articles, key collection or first time opening the door to main house does not need any auspicious date selection. Since there is no significance to this activity.
​

Today, I would be sharing with you one easy way to detect relationship luck easily in a bazi.
​Just one step.

​That is to identify the clashing of the "Spouse Palace". 

In a layman's way, "Spouse Palace" is the house where your spouse "stays" in.
And once this palace is clashed, your "spouse" is naturally disturbed. That is the connection.

A person may display any of following "symptoms" when spouse palace is clashed:

1. Being single willingly - puts relationship as a lower priority
2. Being single unwillingly - tries hard but remains single
3. More quarrelsome or unstable relationship 
4. In relationship but somehow not married
​
So this is a simple straight forward way for you to detect tell tale sign from a bazi chart. I wish to emphasize though, that I have clients with such combo getting married and happy in a relationship. But such odds are on the lower end.

Do refer to below for the six different pair of clashes.
You can also try to locate this in your bazi chart if you are curious.
​If you are looking at your chart, remember, one of the clashed element must be in your spouse palace.

​​1. Jolin Tsai

​First to analyze, we look at the Taiwanese pop queen’s bazi and she has remained single till date. She had had some past relationships but did not materialized due to one or another reason.
In the above chart, there were 2 tell-tale signs.

Her bazi chart likely does not have any spouse star. There was also the clash into her spouse palace where 卯 sits. What this means is that the spouse palace is being “disturbed” or attacked. These two are red flags and would have contributed to challenges in relationship.

2. Emma Watson

​Emma Watson rose to stardom since her role in Harry Potter. She, of course, need no introduction. In the above chart, there were similar tell-tale signs.

Her bazi chart has one spouse star which is 午. But as highlighted in our Part 1 article, spouse star in such location is deem as far from her. It would likely be deduced as feeling a gap with her partner when she is attached. Or it may mean difficulties being in a relationship.

She also, has a clash in her spouse palace where 戌 sits, just like Jolin’s example. Side note, you can tell that she has a very strong chart – a tell tale sign she has a very strong character.

3. Sunny (Girls’ Generation)

Sunny is an American-Korean singer and debuted as a member of Girl’s Generation. She had surprised audiences in a Korean variety show that she would not marry and rather be single. She had also shared she is married to her work.

As above, there is also no presence of spouse star. She also has a clash of spouse palace in her bazi chart where 亥sits. This denotes someone who would have less priority on settling down or being in relationship as shared.

4. Katy Perry

If you googled under celebrities unluckiest in love, Katy Perry would come up as one of them. She had been in quite a handful of relationships. Most of the span lasted a few months to average of 2 years. On the bright side, she is now with Orlando Bloom. This was one of her longest relationship since 2017. 

Her spouse palace where 辰 sits in, is clashed by 戌.

Summary
The identical part of the 4 celebrities' bazi chart​ are that their spouse palace experienced clash. Such clashes can have an effect and can cause relationship issues.

There are also other formation in a bazi chart which would signal relationship issues. But of course, we shall leave those for another day.

Mention of Zac Efron, most of us would be familiar with him with various movies he had over the years. From the buff-built hunk in Baywatch to the grandson with funny encounters in Dirty Grandpa and also starring in The Greatest Showman.

Now, however, being an eligible and good looking celebrity, you maybe surprise to know that he is not married till date. In fact, he has lamented in a talk show with Ellen DeGeneres that finding a mate is difficult. He even tried online dating on Tinder and shared no one swiped right on him!
​
It seem to go against the logic. Strangely. But after doing bazi reading for awhile though, this can really be indeed the case. A very eligible person can sometimes have such bazi where there are challenges in relationship. They just won’t have it easy.

​So let me welcome you to our new series called “Swiping Right on You”. I would be sharing up on a series of real life bazi case studies on relationship and love. The objective is simple - shed light on relationship matters through bazi. Is it a matter of time? Or one may just not have the luck in relationship imprinted in your bazi.

The series of case studies will take you into examining a person's bazi love luck through:

1. identifying yourself in your bazi
2. spouse element
3. spouse palace
4. luck pillar analysis for spouse element

Zac Efron's Bazi Chart
Basing on his birthdate, we have come up with his bazi chart to explore if there are any reasons behind his challenges in love life.

His Day Master and Spouse Element
In each bazi chart, there would be a “palace” (or a "box") where an element that sits in there which represent the person. In bazi lingo, we call it the day master. In his case, it is 庚 (boxed in black). This represent Zac Efron in his bazi.

To read on love luck, we would start with looking for the presence of spouse element and at the spouse palace.

In this example, the spouse element is represented by any presence of wood element. So you can tell there is the presence of a 卯 wood (circled in green) in the year pillar. This may deceptively appear to be a good sign.

So the question is, why is there challenges experienced in his love life?

​

1. The 卯 wood is hidden far away. (Yes, in bazi context, this is deem as far away)
2. Wood is weak in the autumn period.

In this case, spouse element is weak and less favourable. Hence I would grade it as a -1 point.
​

Spouse Palace Analysis
Apart from that, we also have a spouse palace (in red box). As there are no clashes to this palace, this is a good sign. In fact, as the chart is a strong chart, presence of water helps to weaken metal. This is based on the relationship of the 5 elements. So this is actually positive. In the spouse palace, it is therefore a +1 point.

​We can look to the luck pillar next. Luck pillar would serve to tell you what kind of luck one is ongoing through related to age.

Luck Pillar Analysis
​
Based on his current age of 34 this year, you can see that there were no encounter with any spouse luck (wood element) till date. Taking into consideration that he also has a rather weak bazi chart in terms of spouse luck, its no wonder Zac Efron has the challenge in his love life.
​
But fret not, if we look at the luck pillar of age 43, we can see that there is the appearance of 乙wood. Wood element as shared is the spouse luck. This is a positive sign and would likely mean that he may likely be finally getting married during this age period.
 
Would this really come true? As of present, it was reported that he is happily attached to Vanessa Valladares who is a model. It would be interesting to observe if he would finally be happily married during the coming of age reflected in his luck pillar.​

As we usher in the Ox year, parents expecting their baby born this year would need to brainstorm on one precious gift for their newborn. This gift which would likely stick to them for life – a good name!

Thing is, what should we look out for when we think of an auspicious name?
Typically, Singaporeans have a preference for more unique and a nice sounding name. Through this article, you would be able to understand better in what goes behind in a good name for those born in the year of Ox.

The 12 zodiacs and basis of bazi study in name selection

Ox is 2nd among the order of the 12 zodiacs. In the study of bazi and within these 12 zodiacs, it is important to note that there are some zodiacs that the Ox prefers and dislikes.

For a start, Ox are good with Snake and Rooster. These 3 animals form a harmony combi called 三合. Another combination that the Ox like is with the Rat and Pig called 三会.

On the opposite camp, they dislike the Goat, Horse and Dog. This is due to their direct clash or punishment combi nature when put together. In bazi terms, we term them as 相冲，相刑， 相害.

What do we also know about Ox?
Ox is a hardworking and dependable animal that feed on grains and preferably sheltered (vs working in the farm). They are often also served as sacrificial offerings. They can also be hunted by other animals being herbivorous.  

From here, we derived part of the list on auspicious and inauspicious characters that we should pay attention to. 

Auspicious Characters Favourable for Ox 

1. Characters with 辶 or 酉              
远， 运， 凤， 飞，鸾，鸣，迈，泽，莺， 通， 庭， 强， 莲

These are characters contains radical to Snake or Rooster. As written earlier, these zodiacs form a harmony combi with Ox and hence are auspicious.

2. Characters with 子 or 亥
孔，字， 孝， 孟， 孩， 季， 孙， 子， 豪， 濠， 承， 永

These are characters contains radical Rat or Pig. These zodiacs form the winter season earthly branches and are a good combi with Ox and hence are auspicious.

3. Characters with 宀
家， 定， 宏， 宜， 庭， 沈， 宋， 富

Having characters with this radical symbols person would have a shelter. This also implies comfort and somewhere to hide out from danger. Similar to Ox working in the field or being sheltered from sun, you can imagine which has a possible better life.

6. Characters with 戌  
威， 武， 我， 城， 成， 盛 ,   戈，戌,   犬， 戴

Similarly, the above characters contains radicals similar to dog. Dog is also part of the punishment combi and hence should be avoided.

7. Characters with 日 or 山
智,    明,     景，  日,     昌，  晶， 岳， 仙， 汕

The sun implies hard work and heat which is in conflict with Ox preference for water. Mountain contains danger and is not a natural habitat environment. Usually danger and threats lurk in the mountain. There are usually less food compared to a field where the Ox grazes. 

8. Characters with 王 or 玉
珍、理、珠， 环， 王， 瑜，玮， 瑩， 宝

王 stands for the king. The co-relation is usually for the Ox to become the sacrificial offerings and usually at the mercy. Hence, it is quite self explanatory why it is to be avoided.


9. Characters with 彡 or “巾”、“衣”
彤,    彬,    彩,    彦,    希， 麦， 帮，常

Character containing these represents colors and thereby means being sacrificial offerings. In the old days, the offerings are often deck in colors and decorated. This is similar to point 8 to why we should avoid the characters with these radicals listed.

If you are sharp eye enough, you may notice something among the words to avoid or that are auspicious.

Some are actually surnames and it means if the baby born with such surnames would be able to benefit from it more.

Favourable Surname for Ox:
李,   郑,   洪,   江,   孙，温， 宋， 沈， 黄， 郭，游，张，田，梁

Less Favourable Surname for Ox:
朱，杨， 许，成，马，徐，冯，章， 姜、狄

This is also based on the principles of bazi and due to conflicts of energy. Should someone be born under a favourable surname, there is certainly a better advantage and head start at young age too. But that said, there is nothing we can do about our surname. It is about a matter of focusing what we can do to put ourselves in an advantage position in the art of name selection.

In the selection of an auspicious name, the above listed are not exhaustive. There are actually other categories not listed (favourable or those to be avoided).

Not to forget, there is also consideration of stroke count. This is to ensure the baby or person's name is auspicious based on the 五格吉凶表 and others areas to consider. Part of a challenge to selecting an auspicious name is to ensure other than the right characters, the name should have a nice ring to it.

Finally, you may also wish to check if the feng shui master can try to work within some preferred characters submitted. Some do have such practices, while some may not. Of course, the last thing parents (or individuals) want, is to get a name which they do not like. So this option if available is really beneficial. However as with all things, there is no guarantee that the preferred characters is always useable or auspicious.

​We are now just 3 weeks away from celebrating CNY ushering in the year of Ox! As most of us slowly get into the mood of CNY, I would like to share some tips and what you should know revolving to the lunar new year in 2021.

​When is it?
In terms of lunar calendar, we would be welcoming the new year’s spring season on 3  Feb 2021! This is what we call 立春.

This is also the day where you would see many starting to queue to deposit money for a better wealth luck in the new year. (Not that we are advocating any queuing!)

One interesting fact to share - for babies born on 3 Feb, after approximate 10pm, you would be considered under the new year zodiac, Ox. Any timing earlier on the same day, you would be still under the year of Rat. This would also mean it’s a different set of bazi due to the cut over into the new year.

What element is this year?

This is the Metal Ox year (Ox being earth) or 辛丑年, it would be extremely favourable in general if your bazi favours these two element of either metal and/or earth. By and large, we would certainly be progressing towards a better year than 2020. During the Rat year, we were in the midst of the cold 'water' winter period. The Ox year signify the ending of this cold water period.

In this Metal Ox year, metal sits on top of the earth. This is a engender year pillar where metal (辛) is produce by earth (丑) based on the 5 elements in Chinese Metaphysics. Overall, one would have a fruitful and productive year if you endure and persevere.

When is the auspicious date to commence work?

Most of us know this as 开工吉日. There are two auspicious date to commence work, though do note if you are one of the zodiacs that conflict with that day's energy.

​Which direction should I be concern of at home?

In the new year, should you also be moving into new house or carrying out renovation, do note of the flying star in 2021.

This year the negative sectors are in the North East or South West that are affected. If you are moving/renovating your new place where your main door in either of the two sectors, I highly recommend you to only select an auspicious date and time. For minor renovation that is in the part of house which falls in this sector/direction, the same applies.

North East – 犯太岁 (facing degrees 22.5 – 37.5)

It is also recommended to not put up red CNY deco on your main door should it be facing this direction listed.

Which are the zodiacs that "犯太岁“ (fan tai sui) in 2021?

Some of you may have the practice to pray to 太岁 during the year where your zodiac "offends" the Grand Duke. The following zodiac listed should pay attention:
