As a traditional Feng Shui master with years of experience, it is interesting to delve both the potential and the pitfalls of using AI for Bazi analysis.
For a start, let’s ask the basic question – how does AI do a bazi reading?
As we know it, depending on the AI software (e.g. Chaptgpt or Copilot), what it does is to fish out info from online sources for the reading.

How AI Performs a Bazi Reading
AI-based Bazi reading tools typically follow a structured and rule-based system. Here’s how they work:
1. Collecting Your Birth Data
Users enter their birth date, time, and sometimes place of birth. This information is critical in Chinese metaphysics, where even a difference of minutes can shift the chart’s interpretation.
2. Converting to the Chinese Solar Calendar
The AI tool converts your birth information into the Four Pillars of Destiny (八字) using the Chinese solar calendar. This includes the Year, Month, Day (with your Day Master) and Hour Pillar.

Risk of AI as bazi reading:
1. AI depends on the ‘source’ to interpret.
Should the ‘source’ be inaccurate, reading would be entirely different. An actual example I experienced was a client asking if her bazi belongs to 庚申 day pillar. As she is an existing client, I was puzzled and refreshed to her it is a 庚戌 day pillar. So truth was she had experimented using AI and the lunar conversion for her date of birth was wrong. Hence a different day pillar was generated.
2. Bazi reading is complex.
Yes. While the AI knows that in order to read a bazi chart, the day master has to be determined if is a weak or strong day master chart, this is not all. There are other special categories for bazi chart, such as “Followers chart” and “Prosperous chart” among others. Even more such as “Fake Followers chart” and “Fake Prosperous chart”. Special categories chart reading requires a whole lot of different reading approach.
These formulas are all trade secrets – I have not seen any practitioners written ways to determine day master strength online. Even among different bazi schools, different fengshui masters let alone AI, interpret differently. As such, it is unlikely bazi using AI could attain reliable accuracy other than basic character analysis.
3. Only for basic reading. Due to the above, bazi reading, in my humble opinion, can only be used for leisure or basic stuff such as revealing some parts of individual character. Anything further, take caution as the reading and analysis can cause misguided decision making. This can be worsen by the seemingly impressive structure breakdown of info and personal analysis.
Of course, who knows, one day when someone may decide to reveal and have the knowledge to be made available online. Till then, the current day context, it remains only for casual use or basic character analysis based on its capabilities so far.
