As we hop into the year of Rabbit, are you expecting a bundle of joy this year? Or are you born under the Rabbit zodiac and wish to change a new name for better luck? This article aims to share some of the choices and what goes behind an auspicious name in year of Rabbit.

What makes a good name?

Broadly speaking, a name is build based on the:
1.  person’s bazi
2. stroke count
3. zodiac

That said, depending on different fengshui master, some may just use 1 or two of the criteria or all three. (You may wish to check with your fengshui master.) 

To give a flavor of what entails, characters are also handpicked manually as we need to consider the elements and radicals of the characters. This is due to the choices made are influence by a person's bazi and stroke count. The characters chosen also has to fit the strokes in totality of your entire name.  

As such, you can see it is a tedious process in coming up with an auspicious name alone!​

艹  禾  米

Rabbits is actually wood in element in bazi and Chinese metaphysics context. They are also a plant eating herbivore animal. As such, having grass, hay, grains are best suited and with radicals such as 艹 or禾. It also is a form of way to bless them a lifetime of food.

Characters: 萱 花 芳 茵 莉 菊 蓉 艺 秀 麦 程

​亥 羊

Rabbits enjoy good relationship with goat and pig. As such, characters with similar radicals are suitable too. This implies a auspicious combination and support in life.

​Characters: 亥 家 毅 豪 祥 未 妹 羊 善 美 孩 朱

口

Rabbits stay in burrows and likes to have a place to hide. This is akin to being sheltered from danger. This also implies protection and blessing in life.

Characters: 口 如 可 和 合 同 吉 容 富 唐 周 可 吴 问
​

 氵冫水

Should bazi allow, water elements are also suitable. As Rabbit is under the wood element, it is harmonious to have a supportive element to wood. It signifies nobleman in one’s life and receive help.

Characters: 冰 泳 冲 冯 清 法 湖 萍 津 凌 净 沈 泉​

彡 系 巾 衣

Rabbits likes to have a nice coat of fur and often self-groom to look good. In using radicals 彡 or 巾 with clothing related characters in names, it is akin to having better influence to look good in life.

Characters: 彩 彭 彦 维 绮 衣 彬 红 维 绮 细 素 

日

Rabbit actually represents the moon and yin in nature. As such, it is best to avoid the sun which is yang and the opposite of moon. Using the character may increase odds of clashes with peers and relationship.

Characters: 日 明 旺 晶 景 晴 星 曾 晨 普 时

金

As Rabbits are wood in nature, using radicals such as 金 or similar characters is to be avoided. This is due to the nature of five elements in Chinese metaphysics where metal attacks the wood.

Characters to avoid: 金 锦 钱 铃 银 锋 铭 钰 

王  大

Rabbits are generally small and a gentle animal. As part of their natural character, they prefer to be peaceful. Using characters related to king usually implies otherwise and it also signifies an imbalance.

Characters to avoid: 王 玮 玛 环 玉 珲 莹 琴 夷 奕 奇 

酉 

In the Chinese zodiac, the Rooster forms a natural clash to the Rabbit. As such, it is best to avoid such characters that forms a natural clashing combination. This would help to minimize any clash and improves one’s luck.

Characters to avoid: 酉 鸡 西 凤 凰 翔 酝

心 ​忄

Along the theory of Rabbit being herbivore, they dislike meat as their food. It also implied being hunt and is less auspicious in one’s name if you are born under the Rabbit zodiac. Similarly, radicals such as 忄or 心 are to be avoided.

Characters to avoid: 心 思 怀 怡 恬 息 悦 志 恩

Hopefully the given list of examples gives you some idea and guidance during your journey to crafting an auspicious name!

The list is not exhaustive as there are some other radicals or characters to be avoided or auspicious to be used. End result is to ideally fit all mentioned criteria plus coming up with a nice sounding name to give the person to boost one’s luck in life.

Needing luck or not to help one succeed is a very debatable subject. Which camp do you belong to? Yes/no?

Being in the line of destiny reading and delving into the unknowns of the Chinese Metaphysics world, I feel there is definitely a thing on luck. You can work smart/hard but to go further, you need something extra. 

Where is this leading, you think? Well, I chanced upon the headline (as above) and wonder if luck made that much of a difference (for him)?

In black circle is the day master. Based on his bazi structure, he is also a weak day master. Hence, fire is his useful god. Something interesting to note here - you can see how being "weak" does not mean bad.

​​To make it easy, I've also highlighted in green box that are Eric Schmidt's favourable elements - wood, fire and earth.

​And the luck pillar (十年大运), did he had the luck?

Similarly, the green box denotes his good luck phase. Again, it is those that is wood, fire and earth. Importantly, he goes through these favourable times during his peak of his life.

Yes, this is more than 40 years of good luck in general especially to his career - at the right time from 27 to 60s. Just so you know, a person can take 10 to 20 years to make it big and become a millionaire – if your bazi supports your luck pillar.

Fire is his lucky element
​​Something to also note on fire being very important ingredient (useful god) to his rise.

He became the CEO to Novell – 1997, a fire ox 丁丑 year.
He became the CEO of Google – 2001, a metal snake 辛巳year. (Snake represents fire element)
He was an architecture student before switching to electrical engineering. Electrical field represents fire element.
Software and internet technology are of fire element.

Piermont Grand is a new condo that is likely to receive TOP in early 2023. With 820 units, it is located by the waterway area, with also the Sungei Punggol nearby. It is also near Punggol Central at Sumang Walk. Of course, part of considerations may be if units have good fengshui.

In this article, would like to share some personal observations while conducting an fengshui audit.

If you observe from the surrounding, the site runs along the path of water way linking to the Sungei Punggol River. Although the typical saying is 见水为财 (seeing water is good for wealth), but this is a very general way of saying. The formation of flow and surrounding must support in order for property to harness the wealth qi to benefit the occupant.

Hence, I would like to point out that there is no significant landscape formation that elevates the site given its location. This is usually the mark of difference separating between average to one with strong wealth luck. Not to worry, as in the later part of article, I would share if there are other merits from the project.

2. What is the main facing of your stack?

There are broadly speaking 4 different main facing based on the site plans. (Refer to site plan categorization)

All stacks have a NS or NE or SW facing depending on which side you are facing. The good thing is most of blocks are highly likely North South facing. ( Highlighted in Cyan, Red and Yellow )
 
The only exception is for those in Navy blue. These blocks either faces to NE or SW. Buyers would be thinking if this is good given this is not your usual popular orientation.

The good news is, there are potentially some very good units in these NE or SW facing stacks. In fact, some of these units may have even better luck than some of NS facing units. This is especially applicable to those facing SW.

​With the right luck activation, occupants can enjoy very good luck. 

3. What to note of the external?

Fengshui is always about managing the internal and external environment. The most notable ones where there are some shq qi caused by external environment.

Some of stacks that potentially maybe affected include stack 7, 9, 13, 23, 26, 42 and 48. (Can refer to the areas identified on map.)

Of course if possible, it is best to avoid. However, depending on how severe the sha qi is presented, it does not mean that there would be bad luck daily. Each shq qi encountered should be reviewed as it may impact us on certain years or period in time.

​This is usually identified during on site observation or can be studied through the site plan as highlighted here.

4. Which stacks are then better? 

If I were to pick a choice unit, that would be only at blk 28 at stack 14. Else it would be 1 of units facing SW highlighted in point 2. These are units enjoying favourable facing and/or with good internal fengshui in this projects.

​Try plotting your bazi and take a look, are you working in the industry based on your bazi?
(You can download any bazi app and punch in your birthdate and time. No conversion into Chinese lunar calendar period is needed.)

An easy way to spot is if you have many elements tilt towards a particular element. If there is, you are likely to be working in the particular industry indicated. For those with a mix of elements, one may usually transit through a few different industry or roles.

Hence, for beginners, this is an easy and fun way to just take a quick look through just 1 layer.

To analyze accurately and advice on a clearer path to your suited industry and role, a 4 layers rule would give a clearer picture.

Here is a reading I did for someone in relating to career.

We are usually interested to know what are the talents and weakness of a person along with their current job. This is then read together with their luck and boss luck.

To give some insight, you could immediately tell that the person is:

• Keen in always learning and growing 
• Likes to demonstrates and applies what he learnt
• Suited to work in Wood industry and roles such as designing

These can be derived from his elements in bazi where the interaction between fire and water elements with the Jia wood element representing himself. And once you apply the 10 gods which represent his character, you can read how this person functions.

Of course, this is just the layer 2 of the reading.

​Other layers includes the next thing to look at is if one goes through good luck to push his career to the next level.

​If yes, one would likely excel. If not, he may go into the cycle of switching industry – where he always has the tendency to go into a field which requires in depth knowledge. But this also means, he would always have to start from scratch..

​Through my experiences, people who are in the “grey zone” – someone who is neither outgoing nor too much of an introvert, tend to get such issues.

Why? This can only be down to they seem to fit everywhere but they tend not to realise their real talents. Or which function or traits is best suited for them to flourish. To put the icing on the cake, which industry is best for them.

So… if you are stuck or just curious what industry or line you are suited for? This would be a real useful guide. You can even be deciding on which course you wish to be studying for your tertiary studies. All of which will provide extremely helpful insights through your strength and what are you usually attracted to.

The Commodore is a new launched condo set in Canberra Drive. This is a condo project that is between new BTO units project (Canberra Vista) and the landed properties at Jalan Sendudok and Jalan Kemuning.

Project Facing and Surrounding – East Facing
​
For a start, the property site faces East and likely has a double 9 facing formation. This is an extremely lucky formation and facing but the surrounding landform needs to support to trigger the luck to property.

Taking a close look at the surrounding, however, the project’s front faces the high rise BTO site. High rise apartments in current day context are deem as mountains. And at the back of project, there are low rise landed property structure.

For this project to enjoy the best of luck, there needs to be favorable "water" in roads leading to the entrance, which is lacking. The back of project also should have high rise building.

Such though is unavoidable in a concrete jungle city - hence the scarcity of property with great feng shui.

Summary and Units Facing
For the units wise, all of them have a North South facing orientation – a good thing to have. Here is a summary of our analysis:

1. Due to the surrounding landform, there would be a difference in fengshui effect between properties at the ‘front’ vs those at the ‘back’. Personally, I prefer some of the units towards the facing nearer to the landed property area due to its surrounding landform.
2. Should you be choosing units or stacks around middle of the project, there is a need to pay more attention during selection. There is more potential of sha-qi from surrounding.
3. Due to the layout design of the properties, some units have elongated entrances. If possible, do avoid unless you have checked on its feng shui.
4. As the project is a low-rise project, it would be required to pay attention to surrounding if you are choosing units near to landed house.
5. Personally, my preferred block would be at block 63.

As there are various units from 1 bedder to 5 bedder, the best unit would need to be carefully picked based on surrounding, floor plan lay out and its orientation. All the best to your selection!

An EC that is launched in Yishun, just next to Symphony Suites. The new condo is located at a new part of Yishun at Yishun Close that is developing. The project consists of units ranging from 3 bedders to 5 bedders.

While potential buyers looking at projects from North, we review and found some observation from fengshui perspective to this new condo.

1. Facing of units - is it really North South facing?

On paper, the site plan of the units seem to be North South facing. Least it looks good enough to avoid most of afternoon sun.

But from the feng shui perspective, as the units orientation are estimated to be facing at 15 to 20 degrees+/-, this means the properties is likely to be facing the intersection of 2 different direction from feng shui perspective. As per the image above, units could face either North (癸) or North East (丑) sector (circled in yellow).

This means units could: 

a. potentially be facing North or North-East based in orientation (for North facing units).

b. or potentially be either face South or South-West based in orientation (for South facing units).

c. From fengshui aspect, facing a different sector would affect the reading of the unit and influence the auspicious sectors of property. 

This is with exception for blk 43 and 45 where some stacks are East West facing.
Hence to do a selection from feng shui perspective, it is important to know which are the better units to select due to this grey area scenario.

2. Which may be the better blocks?
The project sits on an almost rectangle shape of land. Personally, I prefer some of stacks from block 25 and 27. This is more due to its location within the project due to its proximity.

3. This is a period 9 property.
The project would be completed in 2025.
This is something important to note for calculation of property luck versus those that just TOP from now till 2024.

What this means is the property would be a period 9 property.
Period 8 properties are those from 2004 to 2023. And period 9 is from 2024 to 2043.

4. Potential poison arrows?
Properties are aligned diagonally across the project.
This means some units/stacks may be receiving poison arrow from surrounding nearby blocks within the estates.

5. Facing from Symphony Suites
For buyers whom are looking to buy stacks facing Symphony Suites, there is less worry of any poison arrow from opposite blocks. As shown on image below, the block from Symphony Suites has a direct facing rather than diagonal facing. (Hence no corner edges are pointing to North Gaia)

​“Will I be wealthy mah?”, this is often a question I get asked so often during bazi reading.
Often, when I plot their bazi chart, the next question is, “Do I have wealth element in my bazi? How many are there?”.
 
You can probably predict where this goes. And yes, many would be disappointed when I say none or only 1. While those has a handful, their face brightens up like a camera ready to flash for the next pic.

Over this article, I will share my thoughts on why wealth element is not everything to gain wealth. And through your bazi, when is your wealth luck coming even if you don't have it in your bazi.

Our Bazi Chart – and how to see any wealth element?

Your bazi is a map to your life through the interaction of 5 elements and the categories in life the element represents. The categories is in a gist of how I can put to it in a layman term per below:

1. people around you
2. your thinking/creativity
3. wealth
4. career
5. resources in life or support

These 5 elements is then further broken into what we call “10 gods” (十神). It further help us define into your characteristics and things in life during reading of bazi.

​Client with average wealth luck. She has a Earth (戊) day master. Water is what Earth controls and hence is the Wealth element. Notice the numerous wealth elements in her chart but she is unlike the first chart in wealth luck. In fact, she is more tight-fist over money matters.

​Golden Question - Does the number of wealth element matter?

There is no straight forward question to this answer.
But if anything and generally, no. In a normal bazi chart, you need just 1 wealth element to be wealthy. (not inclusive of special category chart).
​
On the contrary, if you have too many wealth elements, there is a chance you may have poorer health or be henpecked! A case of 财多身子弱.
​
Steve Job’s bazi chart was analyzed by many practitioners and there was possibly no wealth element. Yet, he is one of the richest men at one point in time. (We will come to that in a bit..)
 
As such, you can see that there is no simple easy way of – “Oh! I have many wealth element.. it means I am (going to be) super wealthy!”.

Surprise! There are other areas that can help bring wealth!

Here is a surprise to share with you. These other categories of stars and areas in your bazi can have positive impact to bring you wealth too.

- Career
- Thinking/Creativity

Areas in Bazi
- Bazi Structure
- Your Luck Pillar

Career
Depending on your bazi chart and structure, your career star can bring you not only wealth but fame or authority in life.

One with such stars usually can take the responsibilities and ease up the career ladder or is well liked by bosses. When their bazi structure allows, one typically rose to be leaders in their own fields or are in senior management.

But when one has such talents, gaining wealth also means certain sacrifice in life (e.g. family time or leisure time).

Thinking/Creativity​
You maybe thinking how can thinking stars in your bazi bring you wealth.
The logic is simple. In bazi relationship, your thinking star grows your wealth stars.

Using the production cycle in 5 elements, for a Metal day master, your wealth is Wood. Water is then Metal's thinking.

The formula is hence: 
Metal (self) produces Water (thinking) and produces Wood (wealth).

​This route typically belongs to roles in marketing, design or innovating fields.

Bazi Structure
This is probably less mentioned in bazi context. But, this is also an area that can define you as ability to reach the top or being the Average Joe. (When I mention Average Joe, one can also earn comfortably so long as one tap on their given talents indicated in their bazi.)

​I shall not go into this area as it would be a lengthy write up, but just to give you a flavor of other areas in bazi other than purely wealth star.

Luck Pillar
This is the luck that one goes through at different stage of our life.
In our bazi, each luck pillar define 10 years of our life's luck. And this define from young to when we aged.

Using sailing as an analogy, think of it as you sailing out in the ocean. If its a choppy sea and bad current? You can think of the movie "Poseidon". Or you are enjoying good luck sailing through smooth favourable current. 

The golden tip is - when one is going through good wealth luck in luck pillar, one can enjoy good wealth too. This is even if you do not have Wealth element in your bazi.

Conclusion

So I hope you have learn that in bazi, wealth star is not all you need to be wealthy. Certainly not the generic way of thinking - the more wealth star the merrier. Through other categories and areas in bazi, one can become wealthy or at least comfortable in life too. 

In life, we “win” some – the gaining of wealth, and we “lose” some – the loss of family time. So its not all perfect at times too.
