Do you know that you can tell the relationship between you and your mother in your bazi chart? Alternatively, can we tell if your mother meant well and takes good care of you?

Each of us is represented by an element – could be Metal, Water, Wood, Fire or Earth.
How about our Mother? It would naturally then be represented by the element that produces (the element that represent us) us in the five elements.

In bazi terminology, we also call elements that represent Mother, the resource star.

Generally, an easy way to gauge our relationship with our mother can be found below:

Scenario 1: Mother that is caring and with the right balance – just 1 or 2 resource star that is sitting near us.

Scenario 2: Mother that is close to you but may overly nags/over indulge the children – 3 or more resource star in the chart

Scenario 3: Mother that has lesser affinity with children. Mother and child needs more effort in relationship – 0 resource star or just 1 that is ‘far’ away in bazi chart 

As you could see from above bazi chart, the person (represented by 乙 wood) 'receives' a lot of care from the water star (representing mother). Such individual can also be quite lucky and receive help from nobleman.

That said, bazi is a dynamic subject and there are certainly more ways to infer. Hence, above methods are just simple quick ways and not conclusive. There are other ways to read deeper in our relationship through bazi reading and other Chinese metaphysics personal luck reading systems.

All in all, should your mother’s element be favourable in your chart, your mother’s relationship and you should be good. You would also receive care from her.

Mention of Zac Efron, most of us would be familiar with him with various movies he had over the years. From the buff-built hunk in Baywatch to the grandson with funny encounters in Dirty Grandpa and also starring in The Greatest Showman.

Now, however, being an eligible and good looking celebrity, you maybe surprise to know that he is not married till date. In fact, he has lamented in a talk show with Ellen DeGeneres that finding a mate is difficult. He even tried online dating on Tinder and shared no one swiped right on him!

It seem to go against the logic. Strangely. But after doing bazi reading for awhile though, this can really be indeed the case. A very eligible person can sometimes have such bazi where there are challenges in relationship. They just won’t have it easy.

​So let me welcome you to our new series called “Swiping Right on You”. I would be sharing up on a series of real life bazi case studies on relationship and love. The objective is simple - shed light on relationship matters through bazi. Is it a matter of time? Or one may just not have the luck in relationship imprinted in your bazi.

The series of case studies will take you into examining a person's bazi love luck through:

1. identifying yourself in your bazi
2. spouse element
3. spouse palace
4. luck pillar analysis for spouse element

Zac Efron's Bazi Chart
Basing on his birthdate, we have come up with his bazi chart to explore if there are any reasons behind his challenges in love life.

His Day Master and Spouse Element
In each bazi chart, there would be a “palace” (or a "box") where an element that sits in there which represent the person. In bazi lingo, we call it the day master. In his case, it is 庚 (boxed in black). This represent Zac Efron in his bazi.

To read on love luck, we would start with looking for the presence of spouse element and at the spouse palace.

In this example, the spouse element is represented by any presence of wood element. So you can tell there is the presence of a 卯 wood (circled in green) in the year pillar. This may deceptively appear to be a good sign.

So the question is, why is there challenges experienced in his love life?

​

1. The 卯 wood is hidden far away. (Yes, in bazi context, this is deem as far away)
2. Wood is weak in the autumn period.

In this case, spouse element is weak and less favourable. Hence I would grade it as a -1 point.

Spouse Palace Analysis
Apart from that, we also have a spouse palace (in red box). As there are no clashes to this palace, this is a good sign. In fact, as the chart is a strong chart, presence of water helps to weaken metal. This is based on the relationship of the 5 elements. So this is actually positive. In the spouse palace, it is therefore a +1 point.

​We can look to the luck pillar next. Luck pillar would serve to tell you what kind of luck one is ongoing through related to age.

Luck Pillar Analysis
​
Based on his current age of 34 this year, you can see that there were no encounter with any spouse luck (wood element) till date. Taking into consideration that he also has a rather weak bazi chart in terms of spouse luck, its no wonder Zac Efron has the challenge in his love life.

But fret not, if we look at the luck pillar of age 43, we can see that there is the appearance of 乙wood. Wood element as shared is the spouse luck. This is a positive sign and would likely mean that he may likely be finally getting married during this age period.
 
Would this really come true? As of present, it was reported that he is happily attached to Vanessa Valladares who is a model. It would be interesting to observe if he would finally be happily married during the coming of age reflected in his luck pillar.​

Happy 2021!

As we usher in the new year, the next zodiac to be ushered in would be the Ox year. Today, instead of sharing a CNY related article, I wish to discuss on this occurrence in a bazi chart - one where you would see duplicate pillars. In bazi terminology, this is called "Fu-yin".

​Why so special this time round?

In this new year, we have the Ox year as we all know. And in case you may not be aware, each year would end off with the Ox month (typically in month of January). The thing to highlight is for babies born in 2022 January, they would likely have a “Fu-yin” in their bazi. What is so special is we would see almost TWO consecutive months of “Fu-yin”.

​The "Fu-yin" period falls between:
5 Jan 2022 – 31 Jan 2022
辛丑

4 February 2022 – 4 Mar 2022
壬寅

What is "Fu-yin"?
"Fu-yin" literally means photocopy – duplication. As long as two pillars are of the same within your bazi chart, it is considered "fu-yin".

Over these two months, the month and year pillar would be exactly the same. As such, babies born on these dates would have a bazi chart containing the "fu-yin" situation.

As per the above 2nd image, we even have a day in Feb 2022 with all four 壬寅 pillars of "fu-yin". Such does not occur often.

Is "fu-yin" good or bad?
When "fu-yin" happens to appear in one’s chart, it may not be all bad.
However, the most important thing to take note:

1. If the two "fu-yin" pillars is negative luck in the bazi chart, the negative effect is compounded.
2. However, if opposite is true, the luck would be double blessing.

 
In addition, one’s luck may be volatile when passing through certain phase in life. You may see one phase of life that maybe wonderful and a sudden fall from grace. Some of these bazi charts may also imply a likelihood to have poorer luck in marriage.

Do note, this sharing is purely on bazi chart alone. As you may know, one's luck in life would also be influence by their luck pillar - 十年大运.

As such, for parents whom are planning to have a child and with EDD over this 2 months, may wish to take note. It is recommended to consider a birth date selection due to reasons shared above.  

Were you born in "fu-yin" months and implied meaning?

​I did a quick research over the past 30 years. There were some days where "fu-yin" also appeared across all four pillars. If you were born in this month and year, you would likely have such "fuyin" in your bazi chart too.

1983 Nov 癸亥

I met a lady through a bazi consultation. What was interesting while reading her bazi (as below) was the number of fire in her chart. In some part of our consultation, I had advise her that she is one of those blessed to be a tai tai and has the life to enjoy.

​True enough, she is a stay at home mum and has a comfortable life. I mean, after all, “How I can wish I can be a tai tai” is something typically being wished upon. I guess its good life.. where you need not work and can be supported by your husband.

That was when the conversation turned and she posted a question to me. “But a fengshui master had told me before that I should not cook, because I have a lot of fire in my bazi. Is it true??”, said this lady. She was also advise best not to wear red which would not be favorable to her. (Much to her disappointment as she actually enjoy and love red.)

I looked at her chart and I can understand why.

You see, typically, in a bazi chart, it is generally believed that bazi chart is best to have balance. It should not be overwhelmed by one element. In a normal circumstance, this chart is indeed not too good with half the chart in fire.

A person born with many fire in such bazi chart may often get sick and/or highly likely to endure a tough life. (Of course, besides elements, we have to consider the ten gods aspect of each bazi.)

However, this lady’s bazi chart belongs to a bazi chart called “Follower’s chart” (从格). I would save the technicality part of it. But effectively, this chart’s way of reading would be opposite – the stronger the fire the better!

​As such, fire is good for her! Fire also stands for her husband and status. As such, able to enjoy a tai tai life. Had the fire been unfavourable to her, she would not have her current life and may not even get married. (Her relationship aspect in this bazi chart does have other flaws, but we shall leave that for another article to explain)

Even under a normal bazi circumstances, ​I then explained to her, practicality has to be considered in bazi. It cannot be that one should steer away from all fire related stuff if fire is bad for her. No cooking, no walking under the sun (丙 is essentially the sun and fire in bazi context).. then one may find to it hard to live a life with so many "cannot do list". Just like, it cannot be due to one's bazi chart having many water - one should not drink nor swim.

There is a difference between, say, a career for example and daily life.

Bazi reading is after all a mystical science where it can be inferred on many areas. As shared earlier, a base concept in bazi is that every 1 of the bazi character out of the 8, can be represented by elements or different ten gods. This represent certain things in life - status, money, relationship, your thoughts etc and if its good or bad for you. However, the reading has to make sense and there is a line to be drawn. At the end of the day, bazi reading as such should help us and not handicap one.

Nonetheless during the end of reading, I'm glad my client expressed that she does not have to try avoid red clothings. She is happy that it actually brings her luck!

One common use for bazi is for people to check on their relationship luck. Many a times, I have highlighted marriage may not be suitable for everyone. Most often is due to bad outcome, which the bazi charts depict one of the possible categories:
​

1. Great marriage (can be tai tai or be in a loving relationship)
2. Will meet someone but faces some challenges in their relationship (due to children or parents, distant from our partners etc)
3. Will meet someone but may/will experience divorce
4. Able to come across many partners and have a lot of relationship (which may affect their marriage)
5. Unable to meet anyone or far and few partners
6. In a homosexual relationship (Not foolproof but bazi chart may give inclination)

Case Study
Above is a bazi chart of a lady I met previously. She had consulted on her relationship. As she had been married for less than a year, she has already experienced many issues with husband. She was hoping to see what she can do for her marriage but I could tell she was prepared for the worst.

My reading prior to the meeting was she does not have a lot of luck in love and likely to be her first or second relationship only. And her partner’s quality is likely to be less ideal. Both were verified as we spoke. (When we say partner’s quality is less than ideal, usually can mean unable to provide, major character flaws etc. to put it generally.) Now the issue lies in their differences in opinion and husband can get quite aggressive with her.
  
Why is this bazi chart having such issues?
In this chart, there are at least 3 areas to show poor relationship love luck. Here which I would highlight some areas.

The spouse palace has been attacked as illustrated where 酉 attacks into 卯 (metal attacks wood). Spouse palace in layman term, is where the spouse stays. If this palace is having friction and being attacked, the odds of having good relationship goes down. (Ref above image) This is thus a tell tale sign of issue. Most people that I have seen having this clash have higher odds of not being in relationship or in a less than ideal relationship.

​​Wood represents the husband/relationship luck in this chart. But the wood over here is weak in the metal autumn season. As such, the husband would likely carry major flaws to the relationship. The lady has shared that her husband has been very aggressive and hard to communicate.

​
Third point, water in the chart represents the lady’s mother in law. In the chart, you can see the water (MIL) supports wood (husband). Interestingly, it is noted that the lady shared in event of quarrels, mother in law always sided her husband regardless right or wrong.

To add on, this lady is a weak 己 earth day master. She would favour having earth and fire. It must also be noted that during the consultation this year, its 2019 which is year of earth pig (pig = water). Pig clashes away the Fire snake (亥 attacks巳) . This leaves her lacking support from fire and therefore feeling helpless in 2019.

​In conclusion, the various pointers highlighted already bring up the odds that she would have an unhappy marriage. There are other areas which I have not shared in this article as it can be quite technical. Of course, one could say that upon knowing the above, it may not change the course and some may still get married.

How bazi reading provides insight

Bazi chart would also show various character traits. Positive traits such as feminine, gentle, hardworking, honest, or negative traits where one may be flirtatious, spendthrift can be seen. Other interesting characters such as e.g. being very money prudent, temperament does show in one's bazi chart. 

The objective to analyse these character traits is to not only to look at compatibility of character. But importantly, should you only be in a relationship for short term, such characters may not reveal yet. It would be helpful to allow one to have a clearer picture and decide if one wish to commit further if at a crossroad.

​Eventually, you are given a chance to consider hard against the bazi reading pointers, (if) spotted before taking the plunge.

This has been a busy year and I did not have the chance to write as much post as I could.

That said, it has begun nicely with me receiving good news! In my bazi reading, matters of the heart usually comes up tops among questions asked. Coincidentally, a few whom i have read on their love luck in the past had shared recently they have gotten into a relationship as forecasted between this year and last year. One had even booked their BTO flat recently!

Besides sharing the good news, I thought then I would share a simple write up on one''s love luck and you can try to plot your bazi to see if you have any love luck. To see one's love luck, there is primarily two ways broadly speaking. One is to look at your spouse palace. (Yes, there is such a 'palace' in your bazi.) The other one is to look for your spouse element in your bazi.

Now, don't worry as I will walk you through it  and its fairly simple.

Now, type "bazi calculator" on your smart phone and you should be able to find various of such calculator.. or if you like can google any bazi calculator online.

Once you found one, key in your date of birth (best with the time of birth). There is no need to look for the lunar date of birth as the calculator would convert for you.​

You should get something like this per below sample.

In bazi, there are 5 elements - Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth.
For ladies, look for the following if you are:
Day Master (Female)         Spouse Element
Metal                                Fire

Water                               Earth

Wood                               Metal

Fire                                  Water

Earth                                Wood 

For men, look for the following if you are:
Day Master (Male)         Spouse Element
Metal                            Wood

Water                            Fire

Wood                            Earth

At this stage, there is no need to worry about the characters nor the Yin (-) and the Yang (+). As shared, this exercise is just to guide you to see if you have a spouse element in your chart.

Making Sense of it

How many did you find? Now, having a spouse element in your chart is a good start. A simple way at this point to analyse what you have found is based on the number of spouse element you found. Ready to know the answer?

The magical number is just 1 (or max 2).
Yes, all you need is just 1. In bazi, more does not mean better. 

Should you have zero spouse element found, then yes, potentially, you may find it harder to meet someone. But it is not the end of the world and as mentioned there are other areas to assess your bazi chart. (Thus I indicated its a good start.)

Should you have 3 and above? This is not good either. It could mean that you may resist or have problems in relationship matters or possibly be in a hen pecked relationship.

Again, there are other ways to examine, including the position of where the spouse element sits in your bazi chart and quality of it. Having it is a good start! Hope you enjoy this simple exercise and should you need any help or reading to your bazi, do drop me a note.
