Consider your floor plans when buying your dream home

When buying a house, most would have heard of buying one that is regular shape (e.g. square). Odd shape floor plans should mostly be treated with care. Why? Mainly odd shape floor plan units would cause poor energy affecting family members staying in it.

This is more commonly known among most people.

My intention today though is to bring to you another kind of floor plan that is becoming more common nowadays. The oblong floor plan. 

In real estate crazy Singapore, you would see various condo projects being launched whole year round. Some projects being on a smaller plot of land or with restrictions may end up having very oblong shape floor plan.

Base on assessment, such oblong units tend to be more narrow. With the unit being narrow, this means the unit is akin to having 'missing corners'. Should the good stars be in the 'missing corners', it would be challenging for the occupants. In layman's term, we can also say the feng shui quality of the house is less than desired. That said, you would wonder, is there any missing corner?

As you can see, from the analysis report being done, there are 3 'missing corners'. When you have these missing corners, it would be good if its the negative stars are in the corner. This way, occupants would not be affected and its in fact a bonus. However, if its the good stars that are in these missing corners, then its alot less favourable. 

​This unit featured has mixed feng shui quality as it has good entrance which is key. But the missing corners make it slightly less favourable. As such, among the shortlisted units, this unit would be slightly behind in pecking order. Of course, this is just 1 aspect of the analysis and we have not considered the 24 mountains and other areas to analyse. This being is just 1 simple way to illustrate what to look out for when buying your home.

In conclusion, when buying narrow (and especially odd shaped) units, it is not necessarily bad. With some luck, the unit can actually possess good stars residing in the house, making it a star buy. However, it is essentially important to examine the feng shui quality of such units before committing.
